Machakos

As we left Machakos, there is no doubt that there is a seed planted, which can only grow and expand with time.

Well, when adverts pop up on our TV sets about Machakos Town or County, they never end without the popular Slogan, “The place To Be.” And it was surely the place where believers of all branches around the country thronged into last weekend to fulfill the great commission by our messiah, according to Mark 16:15, 16 “15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”

Being in the ukambani region, famed for drought and scorching sun, many believers were struck by awe to find the Town green and rainy, as well as fertile for the Good News. During the entire outreach, showers were separated by intervals of only a few hours. Taking a walk from the Mulu Mutisya Gardens to Mumbu-ini primary school gave everyone a chance to experience the beautiful scenery marked by the Iveti Hills that surround the town 63 km southeast of the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.

However, it is the welcoming nature of the people living in the Town as well as their urge to learn the true gospel that stood out during the entire evangelism drive. Since the first day, to the last day, there were plenty of people living in the Town who took seats inside the Mulu Mutisya gardens to take listen to the various lessons being taught. Even the business community in the town couldn’t resist the urge to learn the great teachings from Jerusalem, with a good percentage armed with pens and papers/books to write down the lessons being taught by different preachers, True to the words in Proverbs 25:25 “Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land.” There were presentations from various choirs as well as groups such as COGYOK.

Angels in heaven had a time to rejoice as three members gave their lives to Messiah and received baptism by immersion. The ceremony was presided by General Overseer Kuria Karanja. It is important to mention that a number of locals also showed keen interest to the good news and are anticipated to be congregating at the newly opened branch. How we pray that they dwell in the house of Elohim forever as David prayed in Psalms 27:4.
