THE DANGER OF COVETOUSNESS

Scripture Reading: Luke 12:13-32

The definition of “covetousness” is inordinately desirous or excessively eager to obtain and possess”, Webster.

What showed this principle to be strong in this rich man, who already had more than he could take care of ? Luke 12:18-19.

What does the Lord call such a man as this and what did He say to him? Verse 20.

What conclusion does the Savior draw from this parable? Verse 21.

What does the apostle Paul call covetousness? Colossians 3:5.

Note: One of the ten commandments forbids covetousness and were are commanded here to  “ mortify” or to destroy the sins enumerated in this text? Verse 6.

What did covetousness lead Judas to do? Mark 14:10-11.

What is the difference between the way the wicked people and the Lord knew the covetous man? Psalms 10:13.

Note: It is generally known that the public measures a man according to his possessions. If he is rich and successful in pilling up more riches, he is a good business man, regardless of how he disposes of his wealth.

What was one of the special requirements demanded in those men Moses was ordered to choose for ruler in Israel? Exodus 18:21 and 1st Timothy 3:2-3.
