Church of God Seventh Day Youth Organisation (COGYOK)

INTRODUCTION

COGYOK is an acronym that stands for: Church of God Youth Organization of Kenya. It is an organization whose entire members comprise unmarried young men and women in the Church of God 7th day.

The main role played by the organization is:

  • To unify all youths in the Church of God 7th Day,
  • Promote the spread of the word of God,
  • Empower all its members in all aspects of their lives.

The vision of this group:

  1. Be the largest and the most effective Global Youth body, which teaches and converts youths into Messianic faith, with the ultimate aim of helping them attain eternal life in Yahshua, our soon-coming King.
  2. Its mission statement is to win souls for Yahshua, through National and local Evangelical Outreaches among other activities that are aimed at making sure that the true gospel of Yahshua is known to every soul.

The COGYOK Organization was started in 1986.At the time the number of members was quite small because the Messianic  Faith was not widely spread., But through evangelical outreaches, COGYOK has grown by leaps and bounds. It is currently established in all parts of the country and beyond the borders. COGYOK has a substantial and unified governing structure,

Patron- Bishop H. K Karanja.

Youth Minister- Pastor Mugoya

Assistant Minister-Pastor Gitari

Youth President Evanson Gathinji.

 Youth National co-coordinator Pastor Kariuki(KISH)

COGYOK leadership has  8-member committees on all levels of governance.

They are divided into:

  1. National Office
  2. District Office
  3. Village Office.

The committee works on rotation through elections held every 2 years for the office holders.

. Also, COGYOK works hand in hand with Regional  Pastors in all regions who guide and lead them at the grassroots level.

The National Committee organizes AGMs/ Youth camps, This event attracts youths from all parts of the country and outside the borders where they gather for one week to receive training from their mentors and renowned speakers on various aspects of their lives.

On the last day of the one-week camp, the youths adorn the event by making impressive presentations, which display their talents. They also organize leadership Seminars to train and nurture young leaders in the youth body. Other activities that COGYOK engages in include:

  • Gospel outreaches to spread the gospel of truth and the third angel's message.
  • Conduct prayer retreats where youths gather for prayer and fasting with the aim of spiritual nourishment.
  • They also engage in communal work,
  • Charity
  • Visits to other churches to strengthen their fellow brethren.
  •
  • COGYOK actively participates in all projects organized by the church. This has helped in the successful accomplishment of church-initiated projects. Being a vibrant and dynamic team, COGYOK plans to grow into an internationally recognized organization someday.
We look forward to reaching out and working with other youths from outside Kenyan boundaries by carrying out combined events, activities, and projects. This would help realize the commissioned goal of preaching the gospel to people from all nationalities in the 21st century.

LONG LIVE COGYOK!!
