There are however those who condemn its usage, claiming its origins as evil and synonymous with the star god Remphan mentioned in Acts 7:43 and Amos 5:25-27. Apparently, ancient Israel in their apostasy had fallen into the worship of the said star-god. According to this school of thought, the Jews must therefore, of necessity, be an evil people for adopting an occultic symbol for their identity! First, why is this hexagram associated with the versatile, multi-talented Melech Dawid (King David)? Some have pointed out that it all has to do with the etymology of the name "David". In Hebrew, the name David is pronounced "Dawid" and two of the three letters (the first and the last, D-avi-D) in the name is the letter "Daalet", which was written almost like "D" in ancient Hebrew.
